Helen Newberry Residence is one of University of Michigan's smallest and most charming traditional halls, a 1915 building on East Ann Street in the heart of Central Campus. Named for Helen Handy Newberry, whose family donated the original building. Corridor-style rooms with communal bathrooms, no air conditioning. Helen Newberry houses fewer than 100 students, making it Michigan's most intimate residential option. Historically a women's hall and now co-ed. The intimate community, Victorian architecture, and central location make it a prized lottery outcome for students who know about it.
