McKay Hall, named for Kenneth McKay (Board Chairman 1940–1945), is one of UT's oldest residence halls and home to the Honors Living-Learning Community. Originally a men's hall when it opened in 1959, the two-story building was fully renovated in 2015 with new finishes, reconfigured rooms and bathrooms, a covered outdoor patio, updated community spaces, and modern furnishings. McKay's 160 students enjoy an intimate, close-knit community on the banks of the Hillsborough River, steps from Plant Hall and the Saunders Library. A sand volleyball court and picnic tables are right outside. Suite-style bathrooms are shared by approximately four residents. Important note: McKay Hall does not have an elevator — students with mobility needs should contact Accessibility Services before requesting this building.
